Hi

Our company has a DNS server and currently host our own web server DNS
records.  
They have a record for www.xyz.com as an A record
They then have an MX record for xyz.com  pointing to mail.xyz.com
There is then an A record for mail.xyz.com

I want to be able to surf to http://xyz.com/ and they tell me they can't do
it because the MX record is on the xyz.com

As standard with our other sites they are doing
www.bob.com as the A record and somehow making bob.com a CNAME to the
www.bob.com record.  I think that is the wrong approach.

Can someone give me the exact syntax of the commands to have an:

A Record for xyz.com		IP 1.1.1.1
MX Record for xyz.com  pointing to mail.xyz.com
A Record for mail.xyz.com	IP 1.1.1.2

CNAME Record for www.xyz.com  pointing to xyz.com

So the web server is 1.1.1.1 and the mail server 1.1.1.2

I really need to prove that it can be done easily.  I requested an
alteration to take out the www and it screwed up our mail and I am getting
the blame for it here, and I am sure the DNS is set up wrong.  Our real
domain is saint-gobain.com if it is of any  difference.
