Problem with PPM -

I have installed ActivePerl and have tried to use PPM to download some
modules without success.  I have it set up on my computer both at home and
at work and I cant get PPM to work with either.  I have read the FAQ on PPM
and I have set my proxy server in autoexec.bat (I'm a Win95 user).  I have
tried putting a id and password as env variables also but this has made no
difference.

After starting PPM and then typing search there is a short delay, then the
cursor moves to a new line and nothing is displayed.  If I try to install a
package eg file-slurp, i get the following error;

Error installing package 'file-slurp': Could not locate a PPD file for
package
