Further to that... if a visitor had JavaScript turned off in the
browser, they would not see the pop-up window.  Try that.  There is a
relatively good article at InformIT.com called:

And then there's the issue of usability according to Jakob Nielsen in
that article and his new book  "Homepage Usability", Page 28, Point 86
"Avoid popup windows".  

But as Jim Haslam mentioned, if the customer requests it and you want to
get paid...  Anyway, Jim I have forwarded the link you provided to my
home address and will give it a try this weekend / next week while using
Zone Alarm Pro.  Does anyone else want to help Jim test this any sooner?

As Jim Weidner mentioned in a separate email, he uses ZA Pro but gets
pop-ups anyway.  Well, Jim #2, I'd have to check my settings but I
assumed it would be a default setting!  :) For the meantime, check the
Help section.  Maybe some coders have become very "tricksy" in forcing
them through any ZA holes?

To answer the original question, I have used Earthlink's Pop-up Blocker,

it does block any opening of a new window, no matter how well
intentioned.
It beeps, and if you want the new window, you either have to use control
click or click twice on the link. I suspect most people using this

are not allowing any new windows to open.

If visitors have a Firewall product such as Zone Labs Zone Alarm PRO,
they can prevent pop-up ads.  I use it at home on my Windows PC and
haven't seen a pop-up since!  It's great for those game code sites that
the kids want to visit. You get blasted by pop-ups there if not
protected.

I suggest you get a copy of ZA Pro and test it out while viewing pages
on your site.  Else, contact me for further information on how we can
arrange a test of your site / pop-up pages from my home PC.  This
weekend or next week would be best.

>From my understanding, people who use the Opera browser can instruct it
to not allow pop-up ads/ browser windows.  Gotta love that!
