I haven't done anything special to either machine. My Mac (Power Computing
PowerCenter Pro 180) has 128 mb RAM, Ultra SCSI Drives, 180 604e/60mhz
bus/1mb L2 cache. My NT machine has 128 mb RAM 200 P Pro/256k L2 cache, and
an EIDE Drive. Just a small config difference.

Your G3's should be faster than your Pen. Pros. The Pen. Pro does not have
MMX (at least mine doesn't) and Photoshop is optimized for MMX. I am forever
waiting on my NT box to do simple things like display a GIF 89a export
dialog box. This operation never takes more than second on my Mac and always
more than 10 secs on my NT box. It is certainly possible that NT has gotten
corrupted or that I have a conflict on the NT machine, but since it will
mean that I am down for at least a FULL DAY to fix it, I just live with it.
I don't' have the time to loose a day's worth of work.

I'm assuming that your running MacOS 8.5 on your Macs? Are you using RAM
Doubler or Speed Doubler? I don't anymore. Virtual memory is on and set to 1
MB. My disk cache is set to the default at 4 MB. I do have a 4mb XClaim GA
video card(mach64) in my Mac and the NT box only has a 2mb Matrox card.

The good news is your Mac guys won't be the slow machines for much longer.
NT won't be able to touch MacOS X when it is released, even after NT 2000 is
released some time in the middle of 2000. :-) No flames intended either! I'm
just glad that Apple is finally getting their act back together.

A Mac is faster for Photoshop operations!  Tell me what you have done to
it!

I work for the Internet arm of a (paper) newspaper publishing company. 
Most of the company is Mac based, except for the Internet development
section who are mixed Mac/PC.

Every time someone comes up from the Mac areas of the company and ask to
look at something they say (and you can normally time them on this to about
10 seconds) "Wow, that was fast".

We are also using NT4 and P200 Pros - scanning machines have 128MB ram
running either flatbed or neg. strip scanners.

Our Mac people are all using Photoshop on either PPC's or G3's, with
minimal extention sets and memory upgrades.

I don't know what you have done to your Mac's (either that or to your
PC's), but let me know as everyone here could do with a Mac speed increase!
