formatting option within select

Hi,

Does anyone know if it's possible to format only part of an option within a
select? For example, if I had an option "ECC - Eileen Centofanti" would it
be possible to bold only the ECC ? I've tried a span (and everything else I
can think of) to no avail.

Also, do Netscape and IE support the optgroup tag? All I can find on the W3C
site is an example of how a "graphical" agent "may" render the tag.
