Thanks on columns problem

Peace be to all beings!

Many thanks for the help that the list has given me with my problem.  I
wanted to flush tables completely out of my page, but (for the present at
least) I did at least manage to simplify the page structure considerably,
and arrange the buttons as I wished.  As an added side benefit, the page
validated at W3C, and I've added the appropriate seals to the bottom.  See

I'll attack the other pages as I go; but the next major work in progress
will be table-chopping from my lodge page:

which was originally thrown together with a WYSIWYG editor.  The main page
is due for an update in a month, as new officers are coming in (including
me!), so I might as well tackle the whole mess.
