DHTML Filter Effect

Hi all. This is my first post to this list.
I have just completed my first page using CSS for layout. Anyway, I am using
a the DHTML Opacity Filter to gradualy show an image when I mouse over it.
I read on some archives of a different list that this filter was excluded in
the CSS Version 2. I can get it to work, but the CSS does not validate. Does
anyone know any way that I can get around this so my page will validate. I
have tried putting the effect into a DIV, but I couldn't get the rollover
effect to work. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.
