Hi Pam,
I believe that (at least in Netscape) no matter what you do, a form field
will act like it is on the topmost layer. I found this article a while ago
when I was fighting with DHTML menus of my own.
http://wdvl.com/Authoring/DHTML/Menus/
It is a bit long, but it explains at least one way around a problem similar
to the one you are having, where forms were sitting on top of pop-up menus.
I don't know if it will apply to your situation or not, but it might at
least give you some ideas.
Good luck!
Amy

Subject: DHTML Question
I found a great calendar that I want to use on a website
(http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex6/dcalendar2.htm) but have
encountered a problem with it.
The page it will reside on has drop down lists and text boxes for the user
to complete. The problem with the calendar is that it doesn't seem to sit
on the top layer when activated if there is a box of any kind beneath where
it opens. I don't know anything about DHTML coding, so I was hoping one of
the helpful people on this list might have a suggestion.
TIA,
