Adrian,
I believe the advice about defining from the outset might be correct. I
always do that and never have a problem. I too am in a college environment
(as a student) and we ftp to the server during class without a problem. The
key is to make sure that the correct root folder is selected when you set
up.

DW does that weird thing sometimes. I usually solve the problem by
re/defining the site root. I don't usually go to the trouble of defining
the site root at the start of a site, so I figure that's the source of my
probs.
And guess what! I've got a new acronym to use now. Am I cool, or what?
