What is the host you are dealing with. Maybe I have worked with them
before and can help you out. They should help you with all of the above
without exception.

I can't say either way. It seems that you have legitimate concerns and
that they are not very responsive. Without having spoken to someone
firsthand, I would hesitate to call them unprofessional. It may just be
that they expect some level of CF knowledge from the developers that
host sites with them, however they should realize your unique situation.

You can do both with the database. Basically you database table would
consist of columns that match your form field names. Each record would
have a primary key which would allow you to do record counts.

I don't think I have used Perl on Windows very often. Does anyone know
the default windows path? I believe it's different that the *nix path.

I wouldn't. CF is a great scripting language and very easy to learn.
Have another crack at the host after you have done a little research on
CF. At least that way you will know a little more of what they are
talking about. Find out what, if any, code changes they have made to the
site. If they have made no code changes, then there is likely no
database involved.

I agree in most cases, however it seems like the client in question
doesn't mind at the moment. You should be able to get this cleared up in
a matter of hours. If you can't, email me privately and I will help out
with the code to get your stuff working.
