That's the general idea.  I believe Win uses a 16pt base, although NN seems
a bit larger than IE.  Mac uses a quite smaller base, according to the
reading I have gotten from this thread.

My thoughts are to make Windows smaller as you suggest, and also NN when > 5
on other platforms...maybe...

IE is apparently legible on Mac at .8em, but that depends on who I talk to,
so I have to feel that a larger size won't hurt too much.

I'll know for sure very soon, as we are adding a Mac to our shop.  I'm tired
of guessing...:).  We already have 2 Linux machines, so that's no problem to
test.

Maybe if you initially single out windows for smaller font sizes and let
others
default for the moment? Defaults on Mac and Linux seem much more sensible.
