Actually, in a purely unscientific analysis, I have been surprised
by the number of people I've heard mention that they turned it
off. There are the same people who have had to be walked through
finding Windows Scripting Host, or setting Windows Folder View to
show file extensions by default. The biggest problems with JS I'm
aware of reflect irritants more than dangers (popups and cookie
setting, for instance), yet there seems to be some strong opinions
regarding it's use.

Honestly, I'm completely amazed at these statistics. 19% and 11%
of users
without JavaScript!

in their
browsers. Even many techie people don't know how to disable JS
in IE.
I'm very interested in finding more about this. My own site shows
about 2%
of people without JS, and I thought THAT was ridiculously high!
Amazing...
