Simply link to the file in question. Whether in downloads or not depend on
whether the browser has been configured to do something else with it, such
as process it with a plugin. Sound files, Flash movies, Word DOCs - all
would simply download if the user's system wasn't set up to open them using
music players, Flash plugins or MS Office programs as helpers.

To ensure a download, simply zip the file up with an archiving utility like
WinZip and then linked to the zip file.

Hello, all

I am trying to find a particular code out there to suit my wishes (I
know it exists, but I can't think of what it is off the top.)  It is a
command for downloading with just a click (instead of right-click >
Save to - you'd be amazed at how many visitors to the site in
question don't know you can do that).  This is for file extensions like
.mid, .jpg, .txt, etc. that normally can't be downloaded with a simple
click (or onClick, which I tried).

I plan on having two clickable icons, one for the visitor to view/listen
to the .mid/.jpg/.txt/etc, and another to click if they wish to download
it to their computer.  The first part is, of course, easy.  How do I
make a download button for things that don't like to be downloaded
with a simple click?
