Converting aiff files to web ready formats

Greetings,

I have a client who wants to put music on their website.  I have advised
against but they insist.  At least they are going with a with music or
without music option.

They have an .aiff file with the music now.  Does anyone know how to convert
that to a web usable format such as midi, mp3 or wav files and what might be
the best format.
