It's really amazing, why almost everybody is against cbirds's opinions
about web design. Or is it just against to NN4 and HTML4?

What's my opinion then? My opinion is whole Internet should be open to all
different browsers, also Netscape 6.2 but still Netscape 3 or even earlier
borwsers. Who tests web pages with Lynx? I do because then you will see
how it looks like without pictures and also how people with disabilities
can "see" the pages.

The whole idea of Internet was keep that open to all, not just those who
has newest browser, biggest monitor with 2000*1500 resolution and the
fastest connection. Very often people forget also that people are mainly
getting information from something. Should we also make our newspapers to
be printed in 4-colored and using very different colors and fonts in
texts. I think those could be very hard to read.

I'm not thinking that XHTML is bad thing. Not at all. I just want all
pages could be used with all browsers. I don't remember who it was, but
still someone said pages can't be done with XHTML to that kind of versions
all browsers could open it. Of course, every browser won't open pages
exactly the same way, but that's not the point what we are after. Or it
shouldn't be! For example you can look W3Cs pages. Those are in XHTML and
still I could see those with my all browsers I have. If someone want to
have a list, here it goes: IE 5, IE 5.5, IE 6, NN 3, NN 4.5, NN 6.2,
Mozilla 0.9.8, Lynx, Opera 5, Opera 6.

Here's one analogy which falls a bit short as the others.
If we have build a road between the cities many years ago, why should we
want to forbid using horses at that road? Almost everybody have cars...
The other city misses many people, because of that.
If there would be danger to have horses between the faster cars, I could
forbid those horses at that road. Should we build second road for the
horses and those things, which are only in future right now? If we would
built that new, second road, would those information signs be just along
the road of cars? Also in this case other city will miss many people,
because they won't be able to see those signs.
I think it would be much more easier if we would allow all people to use
the same road. Of course we must design the road people, with whatever
vehicle he has, could use it. And that's why I think being web designer is
very challenging and interesting.

There are always people, who takes the path of least resistance.
