Would this do it?
First, move the scatter plot out of the table. Then, immediately after
the table, ...
<br clear="all" /> <--Try it with and without this line.
<p>
<img src="scatterplot.jpg" align="left" />
Complete with a split-view window, ...
This seems to do what you want; the image is on the left and the text
flows down the side of it. It looks OK here in Netcape 4.77, Mozilla
1, Opera 6 and IE 6.
