Well what are your choices:
1. Write Credit Card details to a file on a secure server.
2. Use Paypal.
3. Pay the big bucks.
One is a great idea. The Criticial Success Factors are:
a. Getting over the perception that you are a backyard job and just how
secure are peoples card details
b. Keeping the card details secure up until you read them and process them
and delete them
c. No opportunity for automatic order processing. You'll need to keep
checking or notify the operator when a donation is made.
For me a and b are the ones to focus on.
a. What sites have the most purchases on them? What about amazon.com. Have a
good look at the look of amazon.com and replicate that. They have a lot of
sales. People must feel confident.
b. Scramble the card details when they are written to file on the secure
server. As I understand it, this means they will only be present as they
actually are in RAM of the server that you are using. [I could be wrong here
but that's how I think of it]
There's a few thoughts.
