You can determine the longitude and latitude of a given zip code by using
one of the many pre-populated databases that can be found online using a
search in any major search engine.

Once you have the latitude and longitude of both points, you can use the
Greater Circle Formula to calculate the distance between the two points.

Dear all,

I was asked to update a site for a hair salon chain and in the
process of discussing on how to make the "our locations" page better
my client got the idea add the feature "closest location near you"
which would use a postal zip code.

Has anybody done something like that? What is involved? Open source cgi?

The chain only covers Connecticut and Massachusetts.
