First, check your site log files. See how many requests (or 404s) are being
made to "favicon.ico". That will give you an idea of how many IE users are
bookmarking your pages.
If you are totally restructuring the site, I would suggest making a very
friendly 404 page, explaining the restructuring, links to the main
categories, a search box, etc.
Another idea might be to search Google for:
link:yoursite.com
That will give you an idea of the amount of people who are linking to pages
within your site.
