Soo... what you're saying -- in effect -- is that use of the base tag requires us to use absolute addressing, but using the page on
which the base tag appears as the origin of the addressing system instead of the server root directory. ??

If the above is correct, does it also mean that the base tag should be used one time only, on the 'entry' or top-level page of a
site's directory tree, and that pages on the same server but outside the directory tree below the base tag could not be accessed
except by fully qualified external links...right??
