To my knowledge there is no law that says a civilian website must be
accessable.   Please inform me if I am wrong.  We could make a lot of money
doing redesigns.  This could be like Y2K

The way I understand it, there are standards for websites for the Fed, or
companies that contract to the Fed, and even state websites that are
supported by Fed money.  At this time that's as far as it goes.  I don't
even think there is a serious consideration in Congress to go further than
they have at this time.

The vast majority of the existing websites out there are not compliant. Add
to all these older sites, the SSI driven websites, DHTML menus, Flash,
Shockwave and other technologies that are not really friendly to people with
vision problems.  I am not saying it's morally right, just that this is how
things stand today.
