If you're simply looking for file associations, doing it through Windows
Explorer is much much quicker and a fair bit easier. Just open My Computer
and go to View -> Folder Options. Click the File Types tab and you'll see
every file registered on your machine. You can create new types or change
your existing ones. I always change my HTML extension's default from Open to
Edit, and make sure I like its choice of editor. That way when I double
click on any htm or html file, it spews the code into notepad or Lemmy
(really nice vi emulator for windows). You can do this in Win95 up to
Win2000.

Subject: Re: IE's Edit with.........
Hi,
Actually, with my machine anyway, I can right click on any hypertext
document and I get an edit with DreamWeaver tab. I also have ColdFusion
studio installed and the same thing applies. If I dbl-click a hypertext
document, it by default opens with NN.
There is an OpenWithList under 98 SE. It is found in
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT/.htm. On my machine, there are Keys for NN and Notepad
that contain edit options and command lines for their .exe files, which
both show up in my IE 5.01 under Tools > Internet options > Html Editor.
It is set to Navigator by default, but can be changed to Notepad. When I
click on File in the IE menu, I get the option to edit with Netscape
Navigator.
I am sure this could be changed easily enough to reflect a key for
DreamWeaver, although I don't know if this will change the 'right click
on file' options under windows Explorer.
On _my_ machine, I have a key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSES\htmlfile\shell\Edit with
Dreamweaver\Command
the value of 'command' is:
value name=(Default)
value data="c:\Your path to DreamWeaver would go here\Dreamweaver.exe"
%1
I _beleive_ this is will allow you to choose 'edit with DreamWeaver' on
right click of any hypertext document. I say _beleive_ because if you
screw around in your registry and make a big fat mistake, these keys
don't function right on _your_ machine or _I_ made a big Fat mistake
here, I do not wish to receive a bomb on my doorstep. =:] This all works
just fine for me on Windows 98 SE, but use at your own risk.
The same thing applies to:
JSFile:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSES\JSFile\Shell\Edit with
Dreamweaver\Command
CSSFile:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CSSfile\shell\Edit with Dreamweaver\Command
LibiFile:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\lbifile\shell\Edit with Dreamweaver\Command
NetscapeMarkup:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\NetscapeMarkup\shell\Edit with Dreamweaver\Command
Photoshop.SepTablesFile:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Photoshop.SepTablesFile\shell\Edit with
Dreamweaver\Command
shtmfile:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\shtmfile\shell\Edit with Dreamweaver\Command
shtmlfile:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\shtmlfile\shell\Edit with Dreamweaver\Command
stmfile:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\stmfile\shell\Edit with Dreamweaver\Command
txtfile:
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\txtfile\shell\Edit with Dreamweaver\Command
xmlfile
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\xmlfile\shell\Edit with Dreamweaver\Command
I am not sure if this was what you were looking for, but I hope it was
at least helpful. This way you can have a file open in a browser on
dbl-click and be 'editable' with DreamWeaver on right-click
