Were both hard drives formatted the same (FAT32, NTFS, etc.)?
Are both computers running the same operating system?
Those things *might* make a difference.

Subject: OT - Win Backup sites?

Dear Knowledgeable Bunch :)

Forgive the OT nature of this enquiry but I'm at my wit's end on
this one and am hoping that someone can point me to a website
that might hold relevant info. (Believe me, I searched and
searched including that cavernous vault at MS).

Backed up all files on one computer to the second computer's
hard drive. Reformatted 1st computer and then reloaded all
programs and attempted to upload backed up files (using Microsoft
Backup). Received this error message: "An error occurred while
retrieving the back-up directory. An unformatted region was
detected on the media (07-04-2A-00-0000)". Needless to say,
can't access the files - pretty hard to take considering there is
a bunch of customer files on them. I'm wondering if the problem
could be that the second (older computer) only recognizes 8 gig
of the 10 gig hard drive given it's age (P160).

Anyone's suggestions greatly appreciated - please reply off list
so I don't annoy the list gods...errrrrrrr guides ;)
