no, there was no problem with the EZ Poll.  this  was not the poll i was
asking about.  everything's ok now.

thanks for all those who helped.  i tried the references to free scripts you
suggested but it was only much later that i realized i had to upload it to
the web to see it working on the site :-(    duh.  oh well, we all have to
start somewhere...  :-)
