When doing it from the server side using PHP or something similar the best
way is to add either a part of the date or some random string to the realm.
I'm not sure if that can be done with .htaccess

If you try to fix it from the client side with browser settings they can
easily be unset.

I need to stop browsers from caching passwords (so administrative people can
use the same computers as public terminals).

Does anyone know how to disable this feature in: IE 4+ and NS4+ (incl. NS6)?
