So I'd been having problems with Netscape 7 and 6 not rendering some of my
web pages correctly (wow, isn't that odd?  Netscape not rendering a page
correctly??? whoah).  Anyhoo, I had the main content centered (within a
larger 100% width table of a different background color) with the center
table going 100% down.  For an example of this, open up your Crapscape, er,
I mean, Netscape browser and see http://www.mckelveyhomes.com/custom.htm.
So I went around and around this, wracking my brain, trying to figure out a
way around this and couldn't.  Then by accident I found the solution.  I
took a page I was having issues with and got rid of some XML-compliant code
at the top of the page that Dreamweaver was automatically throwing in
because we thought it would be a good idea to, by default, set Dreamweaver
up to make all HTML pages XML-compliant because XML is the future, right?
Well, this page in question, I removed that junk and replaced it with a
simple HTML tag at the top and Lo! And Behold!  The page rendered correctly
in Netscape!
The moral to the story: don't put XML code like (?xml version="1.0"
encoding="iso-8859-1"?) or
(html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml")  instead of a simple (html) tag
at the top of the page if you're worried about having any issues with
Netscape.
