Our company uses Delphi and Visual Basci to link the website to the main DB,
via COM.  Our webiste is ASP based, but when it comes to logging people in
for example we cant use an ASP script to do this, as the DB is huge and it
would take forever to log ppl in. Since ASP is interpreted rather then
pre-complied it is slower.  The Delphi or VB programmer comes up with a DLL
and registers it with the server.  The ASP ppl then make use of it in their
ASP scripts.
