I tried Lockdown2000 and it drained my computer of resourse because
of its constant scanning. Almost as bad as some of the virus scanners.
I use the Conseal Signal 9, which is now owned by McAfee.
http://www.signal9.com is not longer its site. You will need to go to
http://www.consealfirewall.com It isn't cheap, but comparable to any virus
software, and it does a wonderful job of things. I have days when
I get warnings all day long of persons trying to scan my ports. Other
days I get nothing. It even sometimes tells you what they are using to
top try to access your computer. I visited a site that will scan your
system
to try to penentrate the common vunerable ports, and it said I was in
stealth mode, which is almost like there is no computer. Told me I
had the best protection one could ask for. So I feel that is pretty good.
You can visit and have this site scan your ports too.
http://grc.com/default.htm is his main page, then click on Sheilds Up.
It is good to see if you have some spots open. And there is other
interesting
stuff here also.
Good Luck,
Nancy
