Hiding a Status Bar Message

I have a site that I'm working on that contains an alternate method of entry
that, for the most part, bypasses the normal security measures. Without
going into specifics, this method is also protected, but is intended for a
select group of people, not the general public. If the general public were
to find this, they shouldn't be able to figure it out, so it's not like it's
a high-security backdoor or something. Just something simple.

What I want, however, is for the link to the backdoor (which is a small
region mapped to a banner graphic) to NOT indicate that it IS a link... I've
already applied the CSS cursor:default style to it so it's not an obvious
link, but I want to hide the status bar message about the link, too. How can
I do this simply and easily?

A note: I am aware of the bad vibes messing around with the status bar or
cursor invokes, but it's not like I'm limiting access to anyone -- this
backdoor simply bypasses "general" security measures for an alternate
security measure, and, as I said, only a select few will know of it.

Thanks in advance,
Kehvan
