I have a Kodak DC215. It's great with natural lighting or artificial
lighting with a flash but doesn't do well in low light. It's a battery hog
but there is an AC/DC adapter available. It has removable memory cards.
The best part is that it's relatively inexpensive (about $299) and is simple
to use. I use it for close-ups of artwork that is too large or bulky to
scan as well as general use and it does a great job. Kodak offers little to
no customer support even though they claim they are helpful. I dropped it
on a cement parking lot one day and it dented the case but everything still
works great. I've done 1200 dpi prints and also web photos.
