Does that book have a name? I'm reading "Enough rope to shoot yourself in
the foot" because I want to learn C/C++ and it seems to be coherent and well
written, with pointers that could help a beginner.

| I would recommend a few general books first actually. I think I read a
| general one on object oriented programming a while back. It teaches you
to
| write pseudo code and algorithms as well as the logic involved in OOP. It
| also teaches you the different features of the different languages so you
| can move forward from there afterward. I found it to be a tremendous
help.

| I'm a newbie too, but it seems to me that if you're going to leave on a
| trip, it's best you choose your destination ahead of time. In other words,
| what do you want to *do*? Certain programs are better at certain things
| than others are: none are optimized for jack-of-all-trades. Consider
| choosing your direction- what you want to accomplish- *then* choose your
| language. HTH,
