Hello all,
When I taught a Database Management Systems course at Rochester Institute of
Technology, I used an excellent text titled "The Practical SQL Handbook" by
Bowman, Emerson, and Darnovsky. It also has some very good introductory
material on database design etc., as well as a CD containing Sybase's SQL
Anywhere for use with the examples.
A caveat for Access (Jet) users - Jet SQL doesn't support the exact syntax
of some of the examples. I put together a tip sheet for my students
indicating the issues. I also put together an Access version of the sample
database. I'd be happy to share either of these upon request.
