This is a great link.  It does a good job of discussing some of the
problematic issues with the new standards and DTDs.  It also explains why so
many of us have had trouble with sliced images.  Sliced images as a concept
has been considered depricated.  Evidently someone at the w3c doesn't like
them.

This site doesn't address the problem of standards in the big picture.
Should I use HTML 4.0 or HTML 4.01 because 4.0 is superceeded?  Is 3.2
better because I am dealing with older computers and browsers?  Maybe I
should use XHTML because I plan on transitioning to XML?  Which DTD or
schema is best for my uses?

Someone needs to build a logic tree that allows us to plug in our prime
considerations before we pick a path. How does a newbie handle these
problems if it gives us old timers such a headache.
