NN4 Styles Problem

I'm using this style:

.content { background-image :
url(http://www.patersononline.com/communityactive/content-bg.jpg);
 background-position: top left;
 background-repeat : no-repeat;
 background-attachment : scroll;
 background-color : white;
}

and implementing it like this:

<.td valign="top" class="content">

I fixed my major problem by adding the background-color bit to the style.
However...
If there is another table inside that td the style gets applied to EVERY td
inside that table.  Is there anyway around that?
