>>>Try teaching computers to class in which the average age is 75 and you
will understand EXACTLY what I'm talking about :-)<<<

Good point. I *do* teach Continuing Ed Web Design classes focusing on HTML,
and I see this quite a bit. In addition, I have a couple of clients that can
not read a screen comfortably, or at all, at a resolution higher than
640x480. They simply can not resolve the text. One is about 70ish, and the
other around 40. Relatives and acquaintances with vision problems as well.

I personally wear glasses for distance, and not for reading, but I have
trouble focusing after an hour at anything higher than 1024x768. I can make
it out, but there seems to be more strain.

The Web ain't TV. Its about interaction, not the brain-deadening steady
feed of pictures to a passive audience. I do not condemn anyone for their
decision to ignore vision problems in favor of high-rez bells and whistles,
but I do not consider those sites as "progress", either. I love playing
with new technology (must be a character defect!), but sometimes its best to
take a second look.

After all this work building 3-5 copies of each DHTML page to make sure it
displays on multiple platforms, we are now faced with plain-text delivery
again for cell phones...:). Seems that just getting the information across
is still a big part of our future...
