Client-Side Image Map Problem

GDay, I'm once again a member of the HWG Techniques list :)

I'll get into my problem.

The w3c gives me the following error on my code, where as on many tutorials
on the net and even an image map creator this is correct.
There is one problem, it doesn't work. I have tested it in both IE6 and the
latest Mozilla.
Basically what it is doing is setting the default url for any area on the
image that is clicked that does not have a link set.

<area shape="default" href="defaultlink.shtml" alt="everywhere else">
Error: value of attribute "SHAPE" cannot be "DEFAULT"; must be one of
"RECT", "CIRCLE", "POLY"
