did you define the font for the td in your style sheet? This is what I use:

body { background : white; color : #3C3C3C; font-family: Verdana, Arial,
Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 1em; }
p, td,li,div { font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; }

I have exactly this same problem, if there's an answer/workaround it
would help me too. The tables display tabular data, otherwise I try
not to use them . I've also found that NS4.7x ignores the page
margins after a table.
