Thank you all for your answers. I was able to correct a few problems in both
the html doc and the style sheet, and now the document looks fine in
Netscape 4.7. I've even eliminated the topmargin, leftmargin tags and
validated! Right now I am even tempted to use XHTML in this site!
If you guys could take one more look at the index page, just to make sure I
am headed in the right direction. I've only uploaded the corrected index
page, so don't bother looking at the rest. Please look at:
http://www.yunque.net/casadepalabras/nsat/index.html
The only off the wall thing I can still see is that the first image, the
logo, sometimes will not show up (Netscape 4.7). This usually corrects
itself upon repeatedly pressing the refresh button.
Here is what I did:
1. Took out most of the inline styles and replaced them with id and class
references to the stylesheet.
2. Took out the tables (no more CSS and tables combined for layout!)
3. Used absolute positioning for the images and a -10px relative positioning
for the top and left margins of the body. (which allowed me to eliminate the
topmargin and leftmargin tags)
3. Made sure I had no open tags.
4. Changed the specification order for the pseudoclases associated with the
anchors (now it reads tag.class:pseudoclass)
So, once again, thank you Peter-Paul Koch, Klaas De Waele, Jim O'Brien, Bart
Szyszka, Nancy Whittley, Kim Mitchell, John Alfred and anyone else I may
have missed!
Mirella :-)
