| So turning to a related HTML question, take a look at the screenshots at
| http://www.linkpro.net/webdesign/neulevel.htm
| this is the registrar for the .biz domain being discussed.
|
| They are using Javascript to select from three different versions of CSS
| depending on the browser detected. I love the comment in the code "this
| variable tests for the existence of that p.o.s. netscape browser" LOL.
<rant>
erm, any client side script execution is a p.o.s. itself :-D
since i sent js back to the slimy hole it came from i regulary don't get any
style sheet at all, due to browser detection; on second thought i consider
this an improvement :-P but i miss popups, popdowns and popunders, disabled
back buttons, disabled vcrs and disabled right clicks and so much more;
what's the fun of the average x3c site now?
why to avoid this kinda comments in js code:
67.3% (www.relieablebrowserstats.org.crime) of your visitors will think that
those are the remains of a sad copy & waste job;
*true story*
last time i asked a webmaster what the benefit of some very offensive
comments in several (of course, they never come alone; 10 lines of actual
content should always be preceded by 200 lines of js) scripts on one of his
sites was he answered:
"so you think it would be safe to remove them?"
?-)
*just kidding*
"yeah, just be sure to remove everything from <.!-- till /./-->" (like the
guys @ linkpro.net :-)
