Matt's calendar scripts are generally pretty good.  I believe your tech
person is confusing Matt's calendar script with his Formmail script.
Formmail has many security risks in it.  Heck it's been banned server wide
here.  Luckily there's a more secure substitute that is almost exactly like
it.

All in all the calendar script is pretty good though.  There are plenty of
substitutes available if you want them.  It just depends on what language
you want to use; JavaScript, Perl, PHP, etc...

I recently paid for and installed Matt Kruse's Calendar Script software
for a client. It's a great Perl program with lots of features.
Unfortunately one of those features was a security hole that allowed
hackers to install an illegal Internet Relay Chatroom  on my account.

There is an updated version of the program that patches the security
hole. However, the tech folks at my hosting company tell me that Matt's
software is "notorious" (their words) for security problems.

I like this software -- it does what I want and I know how to set it up
and it fits well into my existing site design. But I don't want to risk
another hack attack. Is the tech person overstating the problem?

What have people here heard about Matt's software?

Any suggestions for other (inexpensive -- Matt's was $50) calendar
programs?
