map regions yes/no?

I don't know if I am using the right terms but I would like to use an
image in a web site that has clickable regions where you set the
coordinates.  This would be the ideal way to solve a problem but I
don't know exactly how to do it and if there are server side
limitations that may be more trouble than it's worth.  Any advice or
good links on the subject?
(and by the way, the advice about MacOpener sure saved my day, Dataviz
is a great company)
