Hi, guys,
I have a Hitachi 75GXP 20GB IDE hard drive that crashed yesterday. It was
running in a P3 1000, Windows 98SE and ProTool software. It has some
obvious hardware problems, an omnimous and malevolent clicking noise is all
I get now. The BIOS will see the drive but it won't boot up in Windows as a
master or slave drive. I ran a Hitachi diag program and got a "Device
Defective" error message. I have contacted a couple of data recovery
services but they are all very expensive - prices ranging anywhere from $500
to $4000! The drive has some music files I have been working on for 2 years
now, just putting the finishing touches on my CD when - click, click, click,
crash! Of course being the efficient IT guy that I am I don't have any
backups (no scolding please, I feel stupid enough). If anyone has ANY
resources or suggestions to offer I am so open to hearing them.
You are welcome to 'e' me offlist at dale(at)asacredplace.net if you can help
in any way.
THANK YOU
dale
