Registering Country Specific TLDs

Dear List,

One of my clients is interested in registering his domain name in other
countries - specifically Japan, China, and Korea.  I know from the research
I've already done that there are rules and regulations my client must meet.
What is driving me nuts is that X Registrar offers .com.cn, .co.jp, and
.co.kr and Y Registrar offers only .com.cn or .cn.com.  Each registrar I
find seems to have different TLDs to offer.

I am looking for information on what are the official TLDs for those
countries - is .cn China or is .com.cn or .cn.com?

I am also looking for recommendations of a good registrar for these domains.
