I've done a little research and lurked on this list for some time,

I do this on a couple of sites every 3-4 months and would like a *better*
way to do it ....currently I simply download the site to a new directory and
then delete all files on the web site and simply upload it again minus the
files that are not linked ...seems to work ok but would be a nightmare on a
large (and busy) site. especially if the site coudlnt be "offline" for the
hour or so this might take

As most of us (I am sure you guys will correct me if I am wrong) do our work
on either a MAC or a windows PC and the websites are UNIX (ok I know linux
and others as well) is there not some sort of directory compare utility that
will work between the formats?
