ppk, you are too quick to blame css ;o)
maureen's style sheet is only fonts and colours, no widths, no positioning
maureen, your top table, the nav table, look at the first row with all those
spacer gifs, add up their widths and the total comes to 800
that's gonna be wider than any browser can display on an 800x600 screen
you have to allow for the browser window itself
i think 740 is safe, if you must use a fixed ("ice") layout
better would be "liquid" so that the page can flow into the browser window
no matter how wide it is
not everybody has their browser fully maximised
