MySQL works just fine with Perl, too. I built a site one that was entirely 
database-driven and delivered via a single Perl script and a couple of 
supporting library scripts.

See realmshelps.dandello.net - It's almost all Perl generated as it is
almost all database generated. I could use PHP and MySQL, but my databases
are unwieldy in MySQL and much harder to edit.
