>According to StatMarket/HitBox [1], Googles market share on search
referrals is at 32% and Yahoos at 36%. Note that these numbers are
for *search* referrals. Considering the additional traffic from
people who log into Yahoo for news, weather, movie listings, sports
scores, games, and a multitude of other reasons and are likely to
remain on the site and use the category listings (Yahoo is wicked
sticky, people spend entire afternoons there) it becomes obvious that
Yahoo remains a major player.
I don't buy it. Google is decidedly very sticky too with its own versions
of all of the above as well as listing thousands of usenet groups. A recent
report from Searchenginewatch says it all:

I started using Google exclusively a long time ago. I found it very fast
and very relevant. It's also a cheery looking place. Google also gives you
relevance if your site is larger based on the idea that you are providing
more products of a type or you provide more information.
Yahoo's home page is so crowded and the print so small it hurts your eyes to
look for something. Its a very old worn style. Their "pay us $200.00 or go
away" attitude torques me off.
