onUnload vs. submit

Hi all.

I have a page with a form on it, where I need to distinguish between
onUnload pressing the submit button, and onUnload any other way (like
clicking 'back'); specifically, for the event to happen when 'back' is
clicked, but not if the form is submitted. I'm sure there's a very simple
way to do this, but I've forgotten what it is. (I tried having an onSubmit
as well as an onUnload, and predictably it just did both)
