The easiest way to handle this would be to force a selection of the
appropriate part of the address from a drop list.  For instance, if you put
all the communities into a drop list and the user had to select theirs from
that list, you would pretty much have indicated who was eligible!

It's also much easier for the programmer to compare against a fixed value
(the option value attributes) than against freestyle text entries.

Dear Folks

A while ago I did up a quick site for a friend who is an insurance broker
for a small community.  I did up two very basic mail-to forms for autoplan
and basic home insurance online quotes  On both forms it states that she
cannot provide quotes or insurance for areas outside of her jurisdiction.
I'll probably have to revamp the header and index page to make her
geographical area more prominent but in the meantime, she's receiving form
submissions from people way outside her area (like not even in the same
country or province).

I was thinking :) that it might be an idea to construct the form so that it
will only proceed to the submission stage if the address fits within her
geographical area (I have a list of the towns and communities).  Any
ideas/feedback with regard to this - i.e. person inputs an address that does
not met the list of areas and an alert box pops up that advises the form
cannot be completed because they do not live within that jurisdiction
(yadda, yadda, yadda).  And any tips/sites to access for examples as I'm
about as form-dummy as you can get ;)  Site is www.talbotinsurance.ca, all
