Nothing is impossible.  It is just a matter of how much trouble you want to
go to to help your clients.

I have my own servers that I have gone to great lengths to provide Anti-Spam
filters and Anti-Virus protection.  The anti-virus protection has been
recent, but seems to be working effectively so far.  I get emails each time
it scans and cleans an email, and the client gets the email indicating that
the virus WAS on it but has been removed.

You must have Root Access to your server to install this, or you can request
that the hosting company you host through, install it.
We installed MailScanner  http://www.sng.ecs.soton.ac.uk/mailscanner/
 and
ClamAV  http://clamav.elektrapro.com/

The MailScanner scans and puts a NOTE in the title to let you know if it is
spam or antivirus.

As the Server admin, I get hundreds of notices a day that emails have been
scanned, but at this point, It means my server is healthy and my clients are
getting the best that I can offer them for their money!

Most hosting companies won't go to these extremes, however any opportunity I
get to help put a crimp in spam or these darn worms I will.  Most of my
clients despite my many pleadings... accidently open things they shouldn't.
So you do what you can do!
I send them repeated newsletters to remind them to update their systems and
antivirus programs.

I also own a computer shop and the latest Worm problem, the Blaster Worm,
was a huge problem.  Folks didn't have to have email open to get this one.
We consistantly tell our clients to update their windows systems, but I have
to tell you, when you are on Dial Up which is what i have at home, it takes
eons to download all those big updates.  Most folks just don't want to do
it.  It is their fault but it is the nature of most home users.  Most
businesses were able to counter the problem, it is the home users who were
hard hit in our area.

My initial reaction is to tell him he's living in lala-land if he thinks he
can stop spam, specially since his website has his email address on it in a
dozen places, but before I did that I thought I'd check and see what you
guys think ..
